Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) Codes

Ennote provides a secure way to manage your two-factor authentication (2FA) codes, adding an extra layer of protection to your account.

Secure 2FA Storage

Ennote offers secure storage for your 2FA codes, allowing you to access them at any time. This eliminates the risk of losing access to your account if you lose your phone or other device where you typically store your authentication app.

TOTP Generator

In addition to storing your external 2FA codes, Ennote also has a built-in TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password) generator, similar to Google Authenticator. This means you can generate TOTP codes directly within Ennote without needing a separate authenticator app.

How to Store 2FA Codes

Here's how to store and manage your 2FA codes:

Enable 2FA on External Site

Enable 2FA for the website or service you want to secure (e.g., AWS, LinkedIn, Gmail).

Obtain Secret Key

During the 2FA setup process on the external site, you'll be provided with a secret key or QR code. This key is crucial for generating TOTP codes.

Create a Two Factor secret

In your workspace, create a new two factor.
Give the two factor a descriptive name (e.g., "AWS 2FA," "LinkedIn 2FA").
In the "Secret key" field, paste the secret key you obtained from the external site.

Get TOTP

Ennote will automatically recognize the secret key as a TOTP key and generate TOTP codes for you. You can view and copy these codes.

Example

Let's say you want to enable 2FA for your AWS account.

You go to your AWS account security settings and enable 2FA.

AWS provides you with a secret key. Documentation

Create a new two factor called "AWS 2FA" and paste the secret key into the "Secret key" field.

Ennote now generates TOTP codes for your AWS account, which you can access from any device and place whenever you need to log in to AWS.
